The surprise New York Giants head west and take on a nearly even surprise team, the Seattle Seahawks, in an NFC showdown on Sunday. The Giants improved to 6-1 with a road win over Jacksonville and remain just one game behind the undefeated Eagles. Meanwhile, the Seahawks are 4-3 and playing well offensively despite trading franchise quarterback Russell Wilson in the offseason. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:25 p.m. EST.

The New York Giants aren’t trying to win in spectacular fashion this season, it seems to keep happening. On Sunday in Jacksonville, the Giants cruised to a 23-17 win over the Jaguars after fending off the Jags at the yard line to preserve the win. Running back Saquon Barkley continued his stellar comeback season with over 100 rushing yards and quarterback Daniel Jones also rushed for 100 yards as the Giants improved to 6-1 this season, the team’s best start since 2008. New York finished with 236 rushing yards. the afternoon.
“I’m never really happy,” Giants coach Brian Daboll said. “It’s always next week. I’m glad we won. But as I say every week: there are some things to clean up. This week is no exception.”
I take a look at the numbers to know and the players to watch in this week’s scouting report from the @Giants opponent: The @Seahawks

The Giants continue to win games despite having a pretty average offense, besides their ground attack. New York ranks 18th in the NFL in offense in seven games. Thanks to Barkley’s resurgence, the Giants have the NFL’s No. 2 rushing offense. Without a true wide receiver, the Giants were well below par through the air, ranking 30th in the NFL. They are only 22nd in the red zone this season, but an impressive 8th in the league in turnover differential. The Giants defense under Dabol used the bend but don’t break approach. They rank sixth in defense against scorers while only ranking 15th against the pass and 28th against the run. In the red zone, however, the Giants were excellent as they finished 4th in the league.
Key injuries: WR Kenny Golladay (knee), OLB Oshane Ximines (quad), CB Cor’Dale Flott (calf), TE Daniel Bellinger (eye), OL Evan Neal (knee), OL Ben Bredeson (knee) have all been judged out this week.
Russell who?
The Seahawks in general, and their quarterback in particular, have defied the odds so far this season. Seattle is 4-3 and very much in the hunt for the playoffs after trading Wilson in the offseason. Quarterback Geno Smith, a fellow QB before this season, won the starting job in a preseason battle and hasn’t looked back with 1,712 passing yards and 11 touchdowns in seven weeks. In last week’s huge road win over the LA Chargers, Smith threw two touchdown passes and rookie running back Kenneth Walker III rushed for a career-high 168 yards and two touchdowns. as the Seahawks took a 37-23 win. The victory inexplicably gives the team chosen to finish last in the NFC West a half-game lead in the division heading into this week.
“Nobody told me that before we started the meetings there (the locker room). I would have been mad about it. It’s fun too. It’s good,” the head coach said. of the Seahawks, Carroll. “Seven weeks and look where we are. Who would have thought?”

The Seahawks were once known for their stifling defense and ground attack, but they now look like a high-powered offense that can beat teams in the air or on the ground. Seattle is ranked fifth in the NFL in offense in seven games. They have the rushing attack ranked 10th and the passing attack ranked 16th. Seattle haven’t been effective in the red zone though as they only rank 31st in the NFL. Like the Giants, the Seahawks were strong in the turnover differential department, ranking 11th. The Seahawks’ defense looked vulnerable, ranking 28th in scoring defense. They are also only 29th against the run this season and 23rd against the pass. In the red zone on defense, the Seahawks rank 22nd in the NFL.
Key injuries: WR Penny Hart (hamstring), WR DK Metcalf (knee), G Phil Haynes (concussion), LB Nick Bellore (concussion), DT Poona Ford (ankle), OLB Darrell Taylor (groin) all have failed to participate in practice this week. Metcalf looks unlikely to play after dodging what appeared to be a season-ending knee injury in Los Angeles.

Evaluation:
Call it luck or call it courage, the Giants find ways to win and find ideal moments to play as a team. This week, they’ll likely face a Seattle team that’s missing star DK Metcalf and has a battered offensive line. Meanwhile, the Seahawks are one of the league’s bottom five teams against the run and will face Barkley and the Giants’ second-place rushing offense. New York also has a few injuries, but they’ve apparently taken the ‘next man’ approach this season. And, while the Giants lack the star power at wide receiver that the Seahawks have, they did get quality play from Wan’dale Robinson and Darius Slayton. This one could very well come down to a battle of Big 10 running backs as Penn State alum Barkley takes on MSU alum Walker III. In a game with two good rushing attacks, battered offensive lines and a depleted wide receiver group, I’m going to lean on the team that has found ways to win in countless close games this season.
Take the Giants and the points (+3).
Prediction: Giants +3

Evaluation:
I’m leaning under in a game with two great rushing offenses, two teams that protect the football, and a Seahawks team that’s missing a very dynamic player. The Giants are 4-3 under this season and desperate to avoid a shootout with Seattle. Expect a heavy dose of Barkley in this one and a number of tracks designed for Jones to keep the chains moving.
Take the least, 44.5 points.
Prediction: Under 44.5
