Giants stay hot in win over Ravens
The New York Giants are one of the hottest teams in the entire NFL. Their only loss of the season was a 23-16 decision to the Cowboys, and they rebounded from that fight by recording three straight wins. They beat Green Bay in Week 5 and were 5.5 point dogs in a 24-20 home win over the Ravens last week. NY has been the dog in four of their five wins this season. They have covered points in three straight games.
Daniel Jones does not light up the scoreboard but has completed 67% of his pass attempts this season. The 25-year-old QB hasn’t thrown an interception in three straight games and has 1,021 passing yards with a 5:2 TD/INT ratio. Saquan Barkley has been the Giants’ biggest weapon on offense. The 25-year-old RB recorded 83 rushing yards last week and now has 616 rushing yards averaging 5.2 yards per carry. He has a big challenge against a stellar Jags defense.
The Giants have been without Kenny Golladay in two straight games. The WR star is considered questionable with a knee injury. Sterling Shepard is on the IR and Richie James has been key, leading the team with 189 receiving yards. The New York offense will continue to run the ball, given the offensive injuries. They are effective in the red zone, chaining on 60% of their chances.

The Giants’ defense continues to excel. They’ve faced two strong offensive teams in the past two fights and held Green Bay to 22 points and the Ravens to 20 despite over 400 total yards. The secondary is stellar, ranking 8th but the rush defense is a problem, scoring 28th in the league after giving up 211 rushing yards last week. NY is averaging 21.2 points, ranking 19th. The defense limits opponents to 18.8 points, good for seventh in the NFL.
Jaguars displaying improvement
Jacksonville Jaguars fade after strong opening month. They were 2-1 but have now lost three games in a row. Jacksonville lost to Houston two weeks ago and was labeled a one-point narrow dog in a 34-27 road loss to the Colts last week. The Jags held a late lead in the loss. Both of their wins came against the Colts and Chargers. The team is definitely better than last season. They haven’t covered in three straight games.
Trevor Lawrence has shown progress since his rookie season. The former first overall pick completed 90% of his pass attempts against the Colts last week and now has 1,397 passing yards along with a 9:4 TD/INT ratio.
The Jaguars’ main offensive force has undoubtedly been the running game. James Robinson and Travis Etienne share the tasks. Robinson has 340 rushing yards while Etienne has 302 rushing yards on 5 yards per carry. Christian Kirk remained silent. The 25-year-old WR had just 24 receiving yards last week and leads the team with 362 yards. Jacksonville’s offense is much better than last year. They have recorded at least 21 points in all but one game.

The Jaguars defense was hit or miss. They allowed the Eagles 29 points and the Texans six, followed by 34 points for 434 total yards at Indy last week. Pass defense is below par, ranking 21st, but rushing defense is 3rd. Jacksonville is averaging 23 points, landing them 16th. The defense limits its enemies to 19 points, good for ninth place in the NFL.

Evaluation:
The Giants are winning games but have only played one road game all season. They face several key injuries to the receptive nucleus. The Jaguars have lost three in a row but two were away against the Eagles and Colts.
Additionally, the Giants will likely continue to run strong given injuries to receivers Sterling Shepard and Kenny Golladay. The Jaguars’ run defense is solid, averaging just 89 rushing yards per game, good for fifth in the NFL. Also, the Jaguars rushing offense was stellar and will play a huge role. The Giants are exploited in the field. They gave the Ravens more than 200 rushing yards last week and dropped to 28th in the NFL in rushing defense.
Prediction: Jacksonville Jaguars -3

Evaluation:
I expect a defensive battle. The Giants are somehow scoring points despite ranking 25th in total yards and 30th in passing yards. They recorded just 238 total yards against the Ravens last week. The Jaguars defense is their main attribute. This is a team that shut out the Colts and held the Chargers to just 10 points.
Additionally, the Jacksonville offense will likely go for the run quite heavily given the strength of the Giants’ pass defense. They ran 33 times last week and those running games will take longer. The Giants are one of the hottest teams in the league, ranking 29th in passing play percentage. The under is 10-1 in the Jags’ last 11 home games against a team with a winning record on the road.
Prediction: Under 43.5
