Proving that not all breakups have to be messy, it looks like Kim Kardashian and Pete Davidson are on good terms.
The fan-favorite duo started dating almost exactly a year ago, but sadly called it quits after just nine months together.
When news of Kim and Pete’s split broke on August 5, several insiders were quick to assure fans that there was no bad blood between the two.
Refuting the spinoff claims, a source told E! News that Kim and Pete had “a lot of love and respect for each other,” but found that the demanding schedules and long-distance dynamics “made it very difficult to maintain a relationship.”
So, in light of their amicable split, many fans had high hopes that a reunion might be on the horizon. However, talking about life as a single again for the very first time during an appearance on The Late Late Show with James Corden earlier this month, Kim made it clear that she was content to be alone for the time being.
After James asked Kim about the future of her love life, the mother of four was quick to say it barely crossed her mind. “I haven’t really thought about it because I don’t watch,” she replied. “I just want to relax for a minute.”
And now, nearly three months after they called it quits, there’s reason to suggest Kim and Pete might still be in touch.
On Monday, an insider told Entertainment Tonight that the exes are “still keeping in touch” despite their split.
“It wasn’t a bad fallout or breakup, so things are good between them and they’ve stayed in touch,” the source claimed.
Interestingly, this comes less than two weeks after similar reports claiming that Pete had offered support to Kim amid the ongoing controversy with her other ex, Kanye West.
In case you missed it, Kanye (aka Ye) has been at the center of the backlash for a few weeks now.
After a turbulent year for the rapper, things started to go downhill again on Oct. 3, when he faced widespread criticism for wearing a “White Lives Matter” t-shirt to Paris Fashion Week.
Prior to that, in September, Kanye had used his Instagram account to publicly harass the Kardashians, criticizing Kim’s parenting of their four common children and posting private messages.
And as you’ll surely recall, Pete took on Kanye in an incredibly public feud earlier this year too, so it’s perhaps no surprise to learn that he was among the first to talk to Kim. amid controversy.
“A lot of people have reached out to offer support for Kim, including Pete,” an insider told Hollywood Life on Oct. 15. “He’s doing another movie but he’s been in touch. He’s such a nice guy and Kim is grateful they can still be friends.
Additionally, several days after that, some eagle-eyed fans spotted a potential Pete nod on Kim’s Instagram page.
On her 42nd birthday on October 21, Kim shared videos and photos of the sprawling flower arrangements she received from friends and family, and an image showing a beautiful display of roses on her counter , a small Diptyque jasmine-scented candle had been placed in the frame.
Some fans have speculated that the candle may have been a reference to ‘Jasmine and Aladdin’ Saturday Night Live sketch in which Kim and Pete shared the kiss that sparked their romance in October 2021.
It’s also worth mentioning that Kim and Pete were known to recall this sketch during their relationship, especially when it came to romantic gestures. In case you forgot, Pete notably gave Kim the original carpet and outfits from the Valentine’s Day live sketch this year.
So, bolstering fan theories, Kim captioned the photo with a simple white heart, fueling speculation that the flowers in question were given by Pete, and may even signal a romantic reunion.
That being said, it’s also entirely possible that Kim and Pete are keeping things strictly friendly for the time being, and if that’s the case, we’re certainly glad to see it!
