Hennessey Unveils Hot-Blooded Venom 1200 Mustang GT500

Ford Performance’s production Shelby GT500 features a supercharged, hand-built 5.2-litre V8 that produces 760 hp and 625 lb-ft of torque – it’s the most powerful factory engine ever released under the bonnet of the iconic pony car. Yet Ford still leaves much of the vehicle’s potential untapped.

The Hennessey Performance team of Texas, which has been “making fast cars faster” for more than 30 years, seizes the opportunity. Its engineers make extensive improvements to the factory configuration to dramatically increase horsepower and torque. These include a larger capacity 3.8 liter supercharger, high flow induction system, new fuel rails and injectors and an air/oil separation system. Additionally, fittings, lines, belts and tensioners are upgraded and the dual-clutch transmission is recalibrated for its high-output role. Finally, the vehicle is calibrated on Hennessey’s internal dynamometer, before being tested on the road.

When the Venom 1200 left Hennessey Performance, its comprehensive upgrades and improvements released a tremendous 1,204 hp and 902 lb-ft of torque, an astounding 58% increase in power over stock.

Price from $59,950 – exclusive to the base Ford Shelby GT500 – the Venom 1200 package offers complete professional upgrades to the original 5.2-litre V8 engine, unique exterior badging and a special serial numbered plaque. Only 66 copies of the Venom 1200 will be built worldwide. Owners will have the option of adding the historic 24 Hours from 1966 Daytona Ford Mark II GT40 livery red, white and black when built (an optional upgrade costs $4,950 and shown on the vehicle in the press images).
