She also confirmed once again that she would take the stage, just days after her friend, singer Brandi Carlile, announced her next concert in 2023.
True to her folkloric reputation, Joni adopted a hippie chic style for her outing with friends.
She wore a cute sheer floral print top and puffy blue pants. Her long hair was woven into two braids that cascaded down the front of her body.
Joni also injected a touch of glamor with a bold red lip, gold jewelry and drop earrings. She even rocked a crimson manicure.

Singer Brandi Carlile announced last week that Joni would perform June 10, 2023 at the Gorge Amphitheater, a Washington state venue east of Seattle.
“I can’t believe this is happening, but it is happening,” Carlile said on The Daily Show. “And she’s going to crush it.
This is her first headlining gig in over 23 years, following a surprise return to the stage in August after Carlile brought her up at the Newport Folk Festival.

Mitchell battled an aneurysm in 2015 and hadn’t performed a full live show in two decades with her last show headlining the 2000 Both Sides Now tour.
In Newport, they replicated a periodic jam session with musician friends that takes place at Mitchell’s California home.
She sang and played guitar on favorites such as A Case of You, Both Sides Now and The Circle Game, as well as some standards.

Going on stage with musicians such as Carlile, Wynonna Judd and Marcus Mumford, the band weren’t quite sure what Mitchell would want to sing.
“She took over the show completely and became the performer we all know she is,” Carlile said. “We didn’t fall asleep that night. We stayed up until the sun came up. Joni, deep down, loves acting and she’s great at it.
“She’s just as good as she was now,” Carlile added.
Help! Joni’s caring friend helped guide the singer on her travels
Great news! Last week Brandi Carlile announced that Joni will be performing on June 10, 2023 at the Gorge Amphitheater in what will be her first headlining show in over 23 years.
Mitchell left the experience wanting to return to the stage, Carlile said.
The gorge appealed to Mitchell because of its beauty and its proximity to Canada, where she grew up.
The place is also the playground of Carlile, who lives in Washington State.
Carlile will perform there on June 9 and open for Mitchell the following night on June 10, she said.
“No one has been able to buy a ticket to see Joni Mitchell play in 20 years. So that’s huge,” Carlile said.
