Philadelphia Flyers
Rasmus Ristolainen was placed on the injured list on Monday with a lower body injury.
The defender sat out the first two games of the season due to an undisclosed injury. Ristolainen left training early on October 12, the day before the season opener, but coach John Tortorella said the injury persisted.
Tortorella said Monday Ristolainen is expected to travel with the Flyers (2-0-0) on their three-game road trip that kicks off at the Tampa Bay Lightning on Tuesday, but said he isn’t sure Ristolainen would play in one of the Games. Philadelphia visits the Florida Panthers on Wednesday and the Nashville Predators on Saturday.
Ristolainen had 16 points (two goals, 14 assists) and averaged 21:26 of ice time in 66 games last season.
The Flyers recalled to the front Zack McEwen and defender Louie Belpedio of Lehigh Valley of the American Hockey League on Monday. MacEwen had nine points (three goals, six assists) in 75 games last season. Belpedio last played in the NHL in 2020-21 with the Minnesota Wild.

Vancouver Canucks
Tucker Poolman didn’t play against the Washington Capitals on Monday due to illness, but the defenseman has had an optional morning practice and could play against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Tuesday.
Poolman left Philadelphia in a 3-2 loss Saturday after the first period and did not practice Sunday.
“He felt better today and he wanted to skate,” Vancouver coach Bruce Boudreau said. “…He was really sick, so we’ll see how he’s doing today. We’re not going to play him today just as a precaution, but he’ll be eligible to play tomorrow, I think, if he comes back from the morning skate , I feel good.”
Defender Noah Juulsen replaced Poolman in the lineup.
Forward Ilya Mikheev (lower body) didn’t play against Washington, but Boudreau said he could make his season debut at Columbus or the Minnesota Wild on Thursday. Defenders Travis Dermott (concussion) and Tyler Myers (lower body) skated in Vancouver and everyone is making progress.
“Both [were] much better skating yesterday than they were the day before, so that’s very encouraging,” said Boudreau. –Tom Gulitti
New York Rangers
Samy Blais played its first regular season game in nearly a year when the New York Rangers hosted the Anaheim Ducks at Madison Square Garden on Monday.
The forward missed the first three games this season due to an upper body injury and all but 14 games last season due to a torn ACL in his right knee suffered against the New Jersey Devils on November 14 2021.
Blais played right winger on a line with left winger Jimmy Vesey and center Philippe Chytil after practicing there on Sunday.
“He wanted to play, but as coaches we talk to him and say, ‘Sammy, we’re not going to put you in there when you’re not ready to play. The last thing we want is for you to have a setback,'” Rangers coach Gerard Gallant said on Sunday. “It’s a minor setback, but he hasn’t played for 10 months. , so I understand that he really wants to play. He’s ready to play now, feeling good and strong.”
Blais had 39 points (17 goals, 22 assists) in 133 NHL games with the Blues and St. Louis Rangers.
“I haven’t played in a regular season game in a while. Getting injured just before the season was a disappointment,” Blais said. “I felt really good on the ice today, so I’m looking forward to [Monday].”
However Vitaly Kravtsov (upper body) practiced in a swimsuit without contact, Ryan Carpenter (upper body) no. Gallant said every striker is day to day. Neither played on Monday. –Dan Rosen
Boston Bruins
Dan Renouf made his season debut against the Panthers on Monday.
The replaced defender Brandon Carlowho is out with an upper body injury sustained in a collision with the Arizona Coyotes forward Liam O’Brien in the first period of a 6-3 victory on Saturday.
Renouf was recalled from Providence of the American Hockey League on Sunday. The 28-year-old entered Monday with 23 games of NHL experience in three seasons with the Detroit Red Wings and Colorado Avalanche.
“I think you just have to play my game, which is to be solid and error-free and to be tough to play against,” Renouf said. “That’s what got me here and I just have to show it at this level, night after night.”
Renouf, a southpaw, played the right side on a pair with Jakub Zboril.
“I know how smart he is, how poised he is, how well he handles the game,” Bruins coach Jim Montgomery said. “I think he will help us tonight against a team that you have to manage the game well against.”
