Big Bang Theory spin-off Young Sheldon casts The Good Doctor star

Young Sheldon hosted Mandy McCallister’s parents on a recurring basis.

the good doctor star Rachel Bay Jones has joined the cast of the spin-off The Big Bang Theory alongside Will Sasso (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel). Both actors play Emily Osment’s character’s parents (via Deadline).

Mandy is now in a relationship with Sheldon’s (Iain Armitage) older brother, Georgie (Montana Jordan). As the couple are expecting a baby, Georgie naturally tries to make a good impression on her in-laws.

According to the character descriptions, Mandy’s mother and father couldn’t be more different.

Jim de Sasso owns the local tire store and is gentle in nature, often trying to keep the peace between his daughter and his wife Audrey.

Bay Jones’ character, on the other hand, is stubborn and often resentful of Mandy’s life choices, including having a baby with Georgie. And she’s very vocal about her disapproval.

Now in its sixth season, the spin-off has already been renewed for a seventh installment. CBS has yet to confirm if round seven will be the last we see of characters or if there will be more.

Over the years, some Big Bang theories the stars moved on to the spin-off, narrated by adult Sheldon actor Jim Parsons.

Earlier this year, Young Sheldon saw an appearance by Mayim Bialik, who played neurobiologist and Sheldon’s wife, Amy Farrah Fowler, on the main show. Bialik and Parsons narrated a relationship-focused episode together, while Teller, who played Amy’s father on The Big Bang Theoryappeared in an unexpected role to help Sheldon through puberty.
