The Sims responded to the lack of Black Simmers featured in its recent Behind The Sims Summit event, with a lack of black representation in the game also reported.
EA and Maxis hosted a special broadcast earlier this week to preview the future of the franchise. This included official confirmation that The Sims 5 is in development, with a current working title of Project Rene, and improved babies and two new expansions for The Sims 4.
Following the event, Ebonix among other things, the Simmers expressed their frustration on social media that only one black content creator appeared.
The sims The team addressed the complaint via the official Twitter account, saying they “better move on.”
“Our creator segments at the Behind The Sims Summit did not accurately represent our vast community of gamers,” the tweet tweeted. said. “Black Simmers deserve to feel seen in everything we do at The Simsso we hold ourselves accountable for this mistake and we better move on.”
The issue has sparked discussions about the general lack of black representation in The Sims 4with a number of Simmers saying there isn’t enough in the game right now.

A petition, calling for better black representation both in-game and behind the scenes, has been set up by Sarah O.
“Black Simmers deserve to feel represented and recognized in a game that many of us have spent years supporting financially and creatively,” Sarah wrote. “Before you focus on the Rene project, focus on the Simmers you have in front of you who deserve to feel part of this community.

“And stand up for what’s right when Black Simmers are attacked by racist or bigoted Simmers online by using your actions to show your support.”
Sarah listed three ways the team can improve when it comes to the franchise: promoting more Black custom content and creators outside of Black History Month, hiring more Black Sim Gurus, and working with Black Simmers to create more Black Sims content.
The Sims 4 is available on PC, Mac, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
