Apple first unveiled macOS Ventura, along with iOS 16, in June. These major annual updates to the Cupertino company’s operating systems contain many notable changes. In the Mac department, we have a brand new Stage Manager feature for organizing open application windows. This is in addition to many other offers that we will list in a moment. If you’re a developer or tech enthusiast, you might have tried the macOS Ventura beta in the past few months. If you were waiting for the stable and final version instead, the wait is finally over. Apple has released macOS Ventura (13.0) to the public worldwide. Those with compatible Macs can go ahead and update their machines immediately.

- Undo send, scheduled send, reminder and follow up make it even easier to master emails
- Improved search provides more accurate and comprehensive results and provides suggestions as soon as you start typing
Projector
- Quick Look support makes it easy to preview files by pressing the spacebar on a result
- Image Search helps you find images on the web and in Photos, Messages, Notes, and Finder
- Rich results for musicians, movies, business, sports, and more.
Safari and Passkeys
- Shared tab groups allow you to share a set of tabs with others and view the tab
- Group update instantly when working together
- Access keys provide an easier and more secure method of login, designed to replace passwords
posts
- Editing a message, unsending, and marking as unread make daily messaging easier
- SharePlay in Messages lets you enjoy activities like watching movies, listening to music and more with friends while sending messages
- Collaboration provides an easy way to invite others to collaborate on a file via Messages and get activity updates in the thread
Pictures
- iCloud Shared Photo Library makes it easy to share photos and videos with up to five family members in a separate library seamlessly integrated into the Photos app
Manager
- Stage Manager automatically arranges apps and windows, placing your active app in the center and other open apps on the left side of your screen
- Easy app switching by clicking on any open app on the left side of your screen
- Group apps to create app bundles in Stage Manager
- Quick desktop access to easily drag and drop files into apps in Stage Manager
FaceTime
- Handoff in FaceTime lets you easily move FaceTime calls from your Mac to your iPhone or iPad, and vice versa
Continuity Camera
- Continuity Camera lets you use the iPhone as a Mac webcam when you bring the iPhone closer to the Mac and place it on a stand (iPhone XR and later)
- Video and lighting effects include Portrait mode (iPhone XR and later). Center Stage (iPhone 11 and later) and Studio Light (iPhone 11 and later)
- Desk View uses the Ultra Wide Camera on iPhone to show what’s on your desk during a video conference (iPhone 11 and later)
This release also includes other features and improvements:
- The Clock app for Mac includes world clocks, timers, and alarms, providing a more consistent experience across all your Apple devices
- The Weather app comes to Mac, optimized for a larger screen and with immersive animations, hourly forecasts and detailed weather maps
- Lifting the subject from the background isolates the subject from an image so you can copy and paste it into apps like Mail and Messages
- Focus filters hide distracting content in apps like Calendar, Mail, Messages, Safari, and third-party apps
- System Settings includes an updated design that is easier to navigate and has a new name
- Rapid Security Response delivers security enhancements to macOS even faster
- Live Captions (beta) automatically converts audio to text so users who are deaf or hard of hearing can follow calls and media more easily (Mac with Apple Silicon)
As the official changelog above points out, macOS Ventura is a pretty big release. It includes Stage Manager, new Weather and Clock apps, ecosystem features, and more. In the ecosystem department, we get Continuity Camera functionality – allowing us to use our iPhones as Mac webcams. We also get support for FaceTime Handoff, which allows us to quickly transfer ongoing calls from one Apple device to another. Meanwhile, Messages and Mail are getting some much-needed improvements – introducing Undo Send and other handy additions.
