Montreal Canadiens goaltender Carey Price spoke to the media on Monday and provided an update on his status.
Goalkeeper says he has no plans to retire just yet but has a long way to go to get back on the ice, saying he wants to be pain free in his life daily.

He spoke of his pain during the 2021 Stanley Cup Playoff run that saw the team go all the way to the Stanley Cup Finals.

Price also spoke of the fan and community support since his injury announcement, including the standing ovation at the Bell Center during the team’s home opener.

The next stage of the recovery is a bit up in the air, with Price not wanting to have surgery for the sake of having one.
Price says he’s spoken to people with a similar injury and it could take a full year to heal, so he remains hopeful. However, reluctant to undergo surgery that would jeopardize his quality of life.

Price says he spoke to Geoff Molson and Geneviève Paquette, the team’s vice president of community engagement and executive director of the Children’s Foundation, about playing a bigger role in the community and that he soon there will be news about it.
