Ottawa Senators
Josh Norris is out at least two weeks with a shoulder injury.
The Senators are awaiting the results of an MRI given to the forward, who left a 6-2 win over the Arizona Coyotes on Saturday midway through the third period after being injured in a faceoff .
“There’s so much torque in these matchups, and the guys are digging in,” coach DJ Smith said. “It’s unfortunate. We’ve been lucky that no one has gotten banged so far, and then it takes a piece of us out. But saying that, it’s [Derick] It’s Brassard’s turn and everyone must give a little more. »
Norris has one goal and one assist in five games. He is third in average ice time among Senators forwards (18:21) behind Drake Batherson (18:38) and Tim Stutzle (18:31).
Brassard made his season debut for the Senators against the Dallas Stars at the Canadian Tire Center on Monday. He played center on a line with forwards Claude Giroux and Alex De Brincatand took Norris’ place on the power play.
“You never know when you’ll have to step in,” Brassard said. “A situation like this, you see an injury, it’s not the perfect scenario, but we’re a team here, everyone is important. Extra guys, we’ve been working hard for the last couple of weeks trying to stay ready. .
“When your team wins, it’s quite easy. It’s a great atmosphere in our room. We have fun every day and everyone wants to play, but at the same time, it’s something that suited me at the beginning of the season, accepting my role. That’s why I came back, for a situation like this.
Winnipeg Jets
Jets coach Rick Bowness will not coach the Winnipeg Jets against the St. Louis Blues on Monday (8 p.m. ET; TSN3, BSMW, ESPN+, SN NOW).
The 67-year-old needs more rest after recently having COVID-19. Partner Scott Arniel will coach the Jets.
Bowness experienced lightheadedness and had to end his media availability prematurely on Monday morning.
Bowness tested positive for COVID-19 hours before Winnipeg’s season opener against the New York Rangers on Oct. 14. Arniel coached the first four games before Bowness suffered a 4-1 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs at Canada Life Center on Saturday.
Bowness was hired July 3 after coaching the Dallas Stars for three seasons and guiding them to the 2020 Stanley Cup Finals, a six-game loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning. He resigned on May 20. –Darrin Bauming
New York Rangers
Philippe Chytil is out at least four games with an upper-body injury the forward suffered 1:32 into the first period of a 5-1 loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets on Sunday.
The Rangers host the Colorado Avalanche on Tuesday (8 p.m. ET; ESPN, ESPN+) and play the New York Islanders on Wednesday, the first of a three-game road trip that continues at the Dallas Stars on Saturday and ends at the Arizona Coyotes on Sunday.
Chytil has three points (two goals, one assist) in six games.
Chicago Blackhawks
Petr Mrazek won’t be rushed by the Blackhawks. The goaltender is on injured reserve, retroactive to Friday, with a groin sprain he sustained in a 4-3 overtime win over the Detroit Red Wings.
“I just saw him working with the coaches today. I haven’t heard anything worse or better. It’s probably at least a week, maybe two weeks, but it’s hard to say with a goalkeeper who suffers from a lower body strain. Blackhawks coach Luke Richardson said Monday. “I think with his story, we just make sure we do the right thing for him.”
Mrazek was limited to 20 games with the Maple Leafs last season due to a groin injury. He saved 15 of 18 shots in two periods and then failed to return against Detroit. Alex Stalock played the third period and overtime and saved all 10 shots.
Stalock made 30 saves in a 5-4 win over the Seattle Kraken on Saturday. Richardson said Stalock should start the next two games.
The Blackhawks host the Florida Panthers at United Center on Tuesday (8:30 p.m. ET; NBCSCH, BSFL, ESPN+, SN NOW).

Pittsburgh penguins
Teddy Bleuger was placed on long-term injured reserve retroactive to October 11. The forward will be out for a minimum of 24 days and 10 games. He hasn’t played this season due to an upper-body injury sustained in training on September 28.
Penguins recalled forwards Drake Caggiula and Sam Poulin of Scranton/Wilkes-Barre of the American Hockey League. Pittsburgh dressed 11 forwards in their 6-3 win over the Blue Jackets on Saturday.
Jake Guentzel missed that game with an upper body injury. The forward didn’t practice with the Penguins on Sunday, but skated afterwards.
The Penguins visit the Edmonton Oilers on Monday (8 p.m. ET; NHLN, SN1, TVAS, ATTSN-PT).
