According to the report, several supply chain manufacturers and channel operators have confirmed that they have received a notification from Apple to reduce iPhone 14 Plus production by around 40%. Apple is believed to be shifting production of the non-Pro models to manufacture more ‌iPhone 14 Pro‌ and ‌‌iPhone 14 Pro‌‌ Max devices, as suggested by increased component shipments.

Despite better iPhone 14 Plus sales in China compared to last year’s iPhone 13 mini, shipments to other markets were flat, leading Apple to adjust shipping ratios for different iPhone 14 models. Therefore, DigiTimesSources have indicated that total ‌iPhone 14‌ Plus shipments will likely be revised down to around 10 million units for 2022.

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo recently said that Apple’s product segmentation strategy for standard models failed this year, after ‌iPhone 14‌ Plus pre-order results were worse than those of the third-generation iPhone SE and iPhone 14. ‌‌iPhone 13‌‌ mini. Apple is believed to have shelved its plans to ramp up production of the ‌iPhone 14‌ and ‌iPhone 14‌ Plus in response.

Despite the decline in orders, adjustments related to the shipment ratio will mean that total shipments of the ‌iPhone 14‌ series in 2022 are likely to remain at 85-90 million units, according to today’s report.
