Resident Evil 4 Remake is set to release on March 24, 2023.
Capcom made this reveal during its Resident Evil Showcase where it also shared news about Resident Evil Village and Resident Evil Re:Verse.
Capcom has published two levels of specifications: there is the level of recommended specifications and the level of minimum requirements. Although both tiers allow you to play the game, the recommended specs provide a smooth and seamless experience.
Recommended specifications
Here are Capcom’s recommended specs:
- 64-bit processor and operating system
- Windows 10 64-bit operating system
- Intel Core i7 8700 or AMD Ryzen 5 3600 processor
- NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 or AMD Radeon RX 5700 graphics card
- 16 GB RAM
- DirectX Version 12
- Broadband internet connection
By the way, your PC should have an estimated performance of 1080p/60fps with these specs. However, the frame rate may drop in graphics-intensive scenes. Additionally, you’ll need an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 or an AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT if you want to ray-trace.
Minimum specifications
If you can’t get a PC with the above requirements, here are the minimum specs which, while not ideal, will still serve to play the game.
- 64-bit processor and operating system
- Windows 10 64-bit operating system:
- Intel Core i5-7500 or AMD Ryzen 3 1200 processor
- NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti with 4GB VRAM or AMD Radeon RX 560 with 4GB RAM graphics card
- 8 GB RAM
- DirectX Version 12
- Broadband internet connection
When configured to prioritize performance, your PC should have an estimated performance of 1080p/60fps based on the hardware above. However, the frame rate may drop in scenes that require intense graphics processing power. Finally, you should have an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 or AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT if you want to experience ray tracing.
Besides the specs, Capcom also gave fans a fresh look at the upcoming title. Going by the trailer, the game will look amazing and deserve all the hype it gets.
The trailer revealed that the game’s story is faithful to the original version but with improved visuals and mechanics. These improved graphics, smooth movement, deeper crafting system, new enemy behaviors, and stealth features, among others, make the game more polished and much better than the original.
Resident Evil 4 Remake is Capcom’s new take on the 2005 original, which was well received by audiences and critics alike. In fact, it’s considered one of the best entries in the franchise. Resident Evil 4 Remake follows similar remakes of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 which both did well with audiences. Given the trailer, the game is expected to perform as well, if not better, than those titles.
Finally, if you are a fan of Resident Evil Village, watch out for the Gold Edition, which is scheduled for release on October 28, 2022.
Resident Evil 4 Remake will debut on March 24, 2023 on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC. Although Capcom has not confirmed it, there are indications that the game will also have a version for the Xbox One console.
Resident Evil 4 Remake is currently available for pre-order on Steam.
