Imagine waking up to a bedroom with clean air, your blinds slowly rising as the lamps gradually brighten the room – all accompanied by your favorite music and the smell of freshly brewed coffee. This moment is activated by creating a stage in the new IKEA Home smart app. Scenes allow different smart devices to be driven individually or in groups to create automated patterns for different activities throughout the day. The new DIRIGERA hub allows the user to add a range of smart products, such as sound, lighting, air purification and blinds to their smart home, in an easy and intuitive way. The hub will eventually be compatible with the new smart home industry connectivity standard – Matter.
“DIRIGERA and the new IKEA home smart app are at the heart of a new smart home experience from IKEA. simpler ways to use technology in everyday life, we have the potential to positively affect times and activities at home, like creating a better wake-up routine or helping you get a good night’s sleep, says Rebecca Töreman, Chief business in IKEA Smart Home.
“As contributors to the development of Matter, we at IKEA are proud to help enable various smart products to interact with each other and bring more smart home opportunities to many people around the world. . At IKEA, we will be working step by step towards Matter certification, and the first update is expected in the coming months. We’re just getting started,” says Rebecca.
The new IKEA Home smart app is developed based on decades of home life expertise. Additionally, hundreds of annual home visits have been supplemented by multiple user research studies. The majority of users observed at home perceived smart products as complicated, and many also felt that a smart home was only available to a few. IKEA’s easy-to-use smart home experience aims to lower the threshold for installing and using a smart home.
“At IKEA, we believe the smart home should be for everyone. With the new IKEA Home smart app, one of the goals has been to create an inclusive experience, designed with the daily lives and challenges of our customers in mind. We learned how people use their smart homes and what works and what doesn’t. Based on this, we have created a simple and intuitive digital experience that enables an even smarter home for as many people as possible,” says Rebecca Töreman.
The IKEA smart home experience will continue to improve over time as DIRECT and the IKEA Home smart app will be regularly updated with new features.
The new IKEA Home smart app is available for download and DIRIGERA will be available from October*. Already purchased smart products from the IKEA Home smart range can be connected and will work equally well with the new DIRIGERA hub.
